I’ve never seen The Human League live, but they were amazing. They only performed a 45 minute set and came on late, but, nevertheless, they were fantastic. We nipped in the bar, New York later, and I found a penny and handed it to Jay. What me and Jay love is Old Skool music and we always struggle to find somewhere. With the ridiculous CDs they played in New York, and the fucking £2 charge, it put me off. Yes, CDs, not records. This guy wasn’t a real DJ, he was a pill popping, poppers sniffing cunt. Even I could have done a better job of the DJing. The mixing system was a sham. I wonder if he’s seen Dragon’s Den, and that mixing system that Deborah and Theo invested in – that was cool (third series I think). The DJ got his ass out and acting like a dick, and if I were gay I wouldn’t shag him. He was awful.

Anyway, we nipped to Via Fossa after that, which had free entrance and, even better, was a bigger venue and played amazing music. I’d remembered about a year earlier I’d been in and they played cracking music. Well they played a lot of Old Skool and me and Jay danced for around over an hour non-stop. It was such a buzz to hear that music, and Paul Van Dyke vs Rachel MacFarlane’ For An Angel/Lover. So cool.

So there you go, try to avoid those joints which ask you to pay for entry. Stick with the free venues because they’re always better and play much better music.
